EBMS Microsoft windows 7

Windows 7 End of Life & What You Need to Know

on September 05, 2019

Microsoft has announced that it will officially begin the Windows 7 end of life phase on Jan. 14, 2020. This means that the company will stop supporting Windows 7 on all devices and will no longer patch it with security updates.

Of course this may cause anxiety for some users. Even 10 years after its release, Windows 7 is still being used by millions across the globe. However, all good things come to an end and soon enough using Windows 7 will make you vulnerable to security risks and viruses.

As a result of Windows decision, Eagle Business Management Software (EBMS) will also no longer be supported on Windows 7. This means that we can no longer ensure that EBMS will install or run on Windows 7. Our team recommends that your system be updated to Windows 10 to run EBMS in an efficient and secure way.

If your business is still running Windows 7 read the facts to start planning now.

FACT: Windows 7 will no longer be supported after January 14, 2020.
End of life for Windows 7 means that Microsoft will no longer be supporting, providing security patches, or fixing bugs and flaws.  If you continue to use an operating system that is past end of life, your system(s) will be become more and more vulnerable to viruses and hackers.  Also, depending on your line of business, your network will no longer be HIPAA or PCI compliant.

FICTION: ‘It seems like hackers mostly go after giant corporations.  I don’t think they’d bother with my small company.’

FACT: More than 50% of small businesses have suffered a data breach.
What’s worse is that each breach costs an average of $84,000.  Windows 10 Pro is the most secure Windows ever and is much less likely to be hacked.  With Windows 10, security events that require IT remediation are reduced by up to 33%.

FICTION: ‘New devices are expensive.  It’s cheaper for me to just keep what I have.’

FACT: All those PCs that are more than 4-year-old cost you more than you realize.
Compared to newer PCs, a 4+ year-old PC can cost 2x more in repairs and is 3.5x more likely to need repairs.  Maintaining and repairing those legacy devices can add up to $515 dollars a year for each device.  Windows 10 Pro devices save you time and money.  Not only in repairs and maintenance, but they’re just way more productive.  67% of businesses say that newer PCs improve performance and efficiency.

FICTION: ‘I’m worried that my Windows 7 apps (programs) won’t work on a new device.

FACT: Good news!!  99% of Windows 7 apps are compatible with Windows 10 Pro.
Windows 10 Pro builds on your current network and works with it.  All your Windows apps and internal apps should also be compatible (and familiar). You can you find out for sure at www.readyforwindows.com.  Windows 10 Pro is an advanced, improved, and continually updated version of the Windows 7 you know and love. Users can experience all the benefits of a modern device with virtually no training.
